World Oyama Karate
World Oyama Karate is a Classic, full-contact Japanese style Martial Art form with a rich history and tradition.
In 1965, Mas Oyama, Director of the International Kyokushin Organization, sent his chief instructor. Soshu Shigeru Oyama, from Tokyo international headquarters to New York to introduce Kyokushin Karate worldwide. Seven years later, Mas Oyama sent another of the Kyokushin chief instructors, Soshi-Saiko Shihan Yasuhiko Oyama (brother of Soshu Shigeru Oyama), from Tokyo to Birmingham, Alabama, to continue the growth of the Kyokushin style.
In 1985, Soshu Shigeru Oyama and Soshi-Saiko Shihan Yasuhiko Oyama founded the World Oyama Karate Organization as an independent institution and continue to serve as its directors.
Today, over 150 official World Oyama Karate dojos operate in 19 countries. An uncompromising dedication to teaching excellence and a well-founded reputation for coaching some of the best international full-contact Karate champions has made World Oyama Karate a phenomenal success in the field of Martial Arts.
